Alright, so you fancy a bit of horse riding? Halsall Riding & Livery Centre is your best bet around Southport, even though it's technically just outside in Ormskirk. Don’t let that put you off though; it's a quick jaunt up the A5147. They've got a solid 4.5 stars on Google from 23 reviews, which is a good sign – people seem happy enough.

Now, I'm no horse whisperer, but I know a few folks who've taken lessons there, and they reckon it's good for beginners right through to more experienced riders. They do lessons, livery, all that horsey stuff. It's a proper family-run place, been there for years. They're closed on Wednesdays, but otherwise open 9 'til 6 every day of the week, so pretty flexible.
