Southport Food and Drink Festival runs from Friday 29 May to Sunday 31 May 2026 in Victoria Park. Bank Holiday weekend, three days, and the park transforms into the biggest food event Southport does all year. If you've never been, it's worth going at least once. If you're a regular, you already know the drill.
Free to enter. Parking on the park itself is available but it fills quickly on Saturday afternoon. I park on Rotten Row or one of the residential streets off Promenade and walk in. Takes about five minutes and saves the queue.
What's Actually There
A mix of producers, street food traders, artisan stalls and a few big catering operations that churn out the same thing every year. The quality varies significantly across the site, which is what this guide is for.
The independent producers along the outer ring of the site are usually the best part. Cheese makers from Lancashire and Cheshire, small-batch condiment producers, local bakeries, charcuterie. This is where the genuinely interesting stuff is. Give yourself 20 minutes to walk the perimeter before you buy anything.
The central cooking demonstration tent runs chef demos across the weekend. Worth checking the schedule in advance because the headliners tend to go earlier in the day and the later slots are less interesting. Check the official Southport Food and Drink Festival website for the 2026 schedule when it's announced.
What to Eat and Drink
Street food: expect wood-fired pizza, pulled pork, loaded fries, Thai food, wood-grilled fish and the usual festival staples. Quality ranges from excellent to average. I usually go for the smaller independent operators rather than the larger setups with the longest queues.
Drinks: there's always a prosecco bar, a gin bar, a real ale tent and several pop-up cocktail operations. The gin selection is usually the most interesting. Local distilleries have had a presence in recent years.
Takeaway shopping: this is where I spend most of my money. Oils, preserves, sauces, smoked meats. I always come back with more than I planned. The produce quality is genuinely higher than supermarket equivalents for most categories.

When to Go
Friday afternoon is the quietest. The site is still fully operational and the producers are fresh, but the Bank Holiday crowds haven't arrived yet. Sunday morning is the other good option. Traders are motivated to sell at the end of the weekend and there's more availability.
Saturday between 12 and 4 is the busiest window. It's still enjoyable but be prepared for queues at the popular stalls. If you're bringing children, early Saturday or any point on Friday is significantly easier.
Food and Drink Festival vs. Southport Flower Show
Both are in the same park at different times of year. The Flower Show (20-23 August) is a ticketed event and considerably larger in scale. The Food Festival is free and more concentrated on the food and drink itself. They're different experiences and both worth attending if you're visiting Southport this summer.
