Right, so you're heading up to Southport and need somewhere to park near Ormskirk? Martlands Parking in Burscough is your shout. It's totally free, which is always a winner, isn't it? You'll find it on postcode H4RF+CW, so whack that into your sat nav.

Now, being free, it can get a bit busy, especially on weekends or during school holidays when everyone's heading out for the day. It's not right in the centre of Southport itself, it's in Burscough, so bear that in mind if you're planning on doing a big shop on Lord Street. You'll need to factor in a bit of extra travel time.

It's a pretty straightforward car park, nothing fancy, but it does the job. I've used it myself a few times when meeting mates who live that way, and it's saved me a few quid. Can’t complain about free parking, can you?

Just a heads up: it's a bit out of the way, so make sure you've got your walking boots on if you're planning on hoofing it into Southport town centre. You might want to check bus routes beforehand too.
