Birkdale Village Restaurants: Where to Eat During Open Week

Birkdale village sits about fifteen minutes walk from the Royal Birkdale entrance. This week it is the most convenient place to eat within walking distance of the course. The restaurants here are busy. Most are full in the evenings. Here is the honest picture.

The Bold Hotel

The Bold is on Queens Road in Birkdale village and is the most prominent restaurant in this end of town. It has a proper kitchen, a good wine list, and the kind of atmosphere that suits an Open week evening. Evening tables are essentially gone for the rest of this week without a reservation. Lunch is more achievable if you arrive before noon. Worth trying the bar if the dining room is full: the food is the same and the atmosphere is better.

Along Liverpool Road

Liverpool Road through Birkdale village has a handful of cafes and casual dining options that are more walkable than The Bold. These are the options that can absorb walk-ins in a way that the smarter restaurants cannot. Go before 12:30 for lunch and before 6:30 for dinner. After those windows, expect to wait.

What Is Still Bookable

If you want a guaranteed table for this evening or tomorrow, call directly rather than using apps. Apps do not always show the real availability and a direct call will get you an honest answer about whether anything is left. Most restaurants in the village will tell you within thirty seconds whether there is anything available and at what time.

The Alternative: Southport Town Centre

If Birkdale village is full, Southport town centre is fifteen minutes by shuttle or taxi. Lord Street has more options and slightly more availability than the Birkdale corridor this week, simply because it is further from the course and some visitors do not want to travel that far. Bistrot Verite on Lord Street is good. The Atkinson cafe is reliable for a quick lunch. The Market on Market Street is the best option for a casual meal without a reservation.

๐Ÿ“žCall restaurants directly this week rather than booking apps. Most Birkdale village restaurants are taking phone bookings for same-day and next-day slots that have not reached the apps yet.
