The Atkinson

The Atkinson's cafe is a decent shout if you're already mooching around Lord Street and need a coffee. It gets a solid 4.7 stars from over 400 Google reviews, so people generally rate it. It's inside the main Atkinson building, so handy if you're catching a show or just want to nosey around the exhibitions.

It's not the kind of place I'd go *just* for the cafe, mind. It's more of a convenient stop. They do have cake, and they make a proper coffee, so it's a step up from some of the more basic places nearby. Plus, it’s a lifesaver if the Southport weather turns grim – somewhere dry and civilised to escape the rain. It's open every day except Sunday, 10am to 4pm.
