If you're pounding the pavements on Lord Street and fancy a sit down, Westminster Tea Rooms is a solid shout. It's got a 4.7 rating from over 750 Google reviews, so they must be doing something right! It's not the cheapest – I'd say it's a "££" kinda place – but you get what you pay for.

They do a proper afternoon tea if you're feeling fancy, but equally, you can just pop in for a coffee and a slice of cake. Speaking of cake, they always seem to have a decent selection. It's definitely more of a sit-down kind of place than a grab-and-go, which makes it perfect for a rainy Southport day when you need to escape the elements.

You'll find them open every day from 10am, closing at 4pm weekdays and 5pm on weekends, so you've got plenty of opportunity. Give them a ring on 01704 540066 if you're after something specific.

One thing to remember, Lord Street parking can be a nightmare – best bet is the car park by the Atkinson and walk down.
