Looking for somewhere to pitch up near Formby? Freshfield Caravan Park is a decent shout, especially if you’re after something family-friendly. It’s not right in Southport itself, but an easy drive, and handy for the Formby red squirrel reserve and the beach – good for kids that. They're open every day, 9 'til 5. It’s a proper caravan park, so bring your own caravan or motorhome. They’ve got parking on site, which is always a bonus in this area. It's worth considering if you're coming for The Open at Birkdale in 2026; Formby's close enough, but book early, obviously.

It's not a luxury resort, mind. Think practical and no-frills, but clean and well-maintained from what I hear. Good base for exploring the coast, and much cheaper than a fancy hotel.
