Shaw Hall Holiday Park

Looking for somewhere a bit quieter than Southport itself, but still handy for everything? Shaw Hall Holiday Park, just out towards Ormskirk, is a decent shout. It gets a 4.1 rating from over 240 Google reviews, so most folks seem happy enough. It's not right on the beach, obviously, but you're only a short drive from Ainsdale or Formby if you fancy a paddle.

They're open every day, 9 'til 5, which seems a bit daft for a holiday park, but that's what their website says. Give them a ring on 01704 840298 if you have any questions. I reckon it's pretty family-friendly; plenty of space for the kids to run around. Plus, there's a golf course nearby if you fancy a round. Plenty of parking too, which is always a bonus around here.

If you're thinking about coming for The Open at Birkdale in 2026, it's worth booking well in advance – places fill up fast. Shaw Hall is a good option if you want to be close, but not *too* close to the crowds.

One thing to note: it’s a holiday park, so expect caravans and chalets rather than a fancy hotel. Bring your own supplies, as the on-site shop might be limited.
