Right then, if you're after a decent caravan park or a spot to pitch your tent, Willowbank in Ainsdale is worth a look. It's got a solid 4.5 stars on Google from over 400 reviews, so people generally seem happy enough. It's not right in the town centre, which is good if you want some peace, but you'll need a car or be happy with the bus to get into Southport proper.

They're open every day from 9 'til 5, which seems a bit daft – who books a campsite only during office hours? Still, that's what it says! It's a pretty good spot for families, with plenty of space for the kids to run around. Plus, being in Ainsdale, you're not far from the beach, which is always a winner with the little 'uns. It's also pretty handy if you're planning on heading to the Open at Birkdale in 2026; you'll want to book well ahead though, I reckon.
