The Grapevine Restaurant

If you're after a good Mediterranean meal in town, The Grapevine is a solid shout. It's got a cracking 4.8 stars from over 1,200 Google reviews which is always a good sign. I've been a few times myself and never had a bad plate. It's right in the centre of Southport so easy to get to, and it's got a nice, relaxed atmosphere that works well whether you're with your other half or the whole family.

They do lunch and dinner, but keep in mind they shut between 2pm and 5pm most days – except Mondays when they're closed all day. The prices are what I'd call 'mid-range' – not dirt cheap, but not going to break the bank either. They do a decent wine selection too, as you might expect from the name!

The atmosphere is generally pretty chilled, even when it's busy, and the staff are always friendly. It's a good spot if you want something a bit nicer than your average pub grub, but without being stuffy. It definitely suits couples on a date night as much as a family meal.
