The Swan Restaurant and Take Away

Alright, if you're after proper fish and chips in town, The Swan is a solid shout. It's been knocking about for ages and everyone knows it. Family-run, proper chippy grub – you can sit in or grab takeaway. Nothing fancy, just does what it says on the tin.

They've got a menu of all the usual suspects, and at a good price, so it's easy on the wallet. Good for families — the kids will love it. My wife and I go sometimes too, so it suits couples as well. With over 2,000 Google reviews and a 4.7 rating, loads of people seem happy enough.

The Swan is open most days, but shut Mondays, and they do close between 2pm and 4pm Tuesdays to Thursdays, so watch out for that. Fridays and Saturdays they're open later. Check their website to be sure.

If you're thinking of going on a Friday or Saturday teatime, I'd ring ahead (01704 530720) and book a table, just to be safe. It can get pretty busy then.
