Need a new set of wheels or your trusty bike seen to? Leisure Lakes Bikes on Hoghton Street in Southport town centre is your place. It gets a solid 4.5 stars from 80 Google reviews, so you know they're doing something right. They stock all sorts, from mountain bikes to road bikes, plus all the gear you could need – helmets, clothing, the lot.

It's a family-run business, which I always like to support. I popped in last year when I needed a new tyre for my old Dawes Galaxy and they were sound, no pressure to buy anything fancy. They do repairs too, which is handy if you've had a spill on the Coastal Road or are prepping for the Trans Pennine Trail.

They're open six days a week, Monday to Saturday, 9:30am to 5pm. Closed on Sundays – fair enough! You can give them a bell on 01772 814990 if you want to check if they have something specific in stock, or just browse the shop.

Parking can be a pain around there, so allow a bit of extra time to find a space, or better yet, cycle down!
