FUNdamental Football (Birkdale)

Right, so FUNdamental Football in Birkdale. If you've got little 'uns mad about the footy, this is worth a look. It's basically coaching sessions for kids aged 4–12, and they seem to get a real kick out of it (sorry!). It's run by proper qualified coaches, not just some bloke who used to play a bit down the park, which is reassuring. Give them a ring on 07508 044308 to see what's on.

It's outdoors, so best suited for when the weather's not too grim – although they do run sessions throughout the year as far as I know. It's not right next to the beach, but you could always combine it with a trip to Ainsdale if the kids are up for it. It’s a good way to tire them out, let me tell you.

It’s in Birkdale, so easy enough to get to. Parking can be a bit tight around there sometimes, especially if there's something else going on. Might be worth the train to Birkdale station and a short walk if you're coming from the other side of town. Check their Facebook page for the latest times and any cancellations before you head over.
