Birkdale Village on Liverpool Road is the anchor — independent shops, a deli, a handful of good restaurants, and a local character that doesn't feel manufactured. Royal Birkdale Golf Club sits at the southern end of the postcode, which brings prestige and, during The Open, a noticeable energy to the whole area. The housing is larger here: detached Edwardian and interwar semis on wide roads, occasional Victorian villas on the better streets.
