Marine lake Southport

Right, Marine Lake. It's not really a bar, more of a big boating lake slap-bang in the middle of town – but it's got outdoor seating and a kiosk selling drinks and snacks, so it counts for this guide. It's got a decent 4.5 stars from over a hundred Google reviews, so people seem to like it well enough.

It's basically an open-air spot where you can grab a drink and watch the pedalos go round and round. It's got a bit of a seasidey holiday vibe – think families, kids, and the odd seagull trying to nick your chips. Nothing fancy, but a good place to chill if the sun's out. Plus, dogs are welcome which is always a bonus if you're walking the pooch.

Don't expect a massive selection of drinks, it's more tea, coffee, pop and maybe a beer or wine. The atmosphere is relaxed, sometimes a bit loud with kids enjoying themselves. It's not a local pub or anything like that, just a simple spot for a sunny afternoon.
