The Avenue Bar

Alright, so The Avenue Bar out in Scarisbrick, yeah? It's got a good rep – 4.4 stars from almost 300 Google reviews, so people seem pretty happy. It's not exactly on my doorstep in Churchtown, but if you're out that way, it's worth a look, especially if you're into live music.

It's definitely more of a late-night spot. They're shut Monday to Wednesday, then Thursday and Sunday they open at 8 PM, Friday at 6 PM, and Saturday they open in the afternoon at 3 PM. But every night they are open, they are open LATE, until 3 AM. So if you're looking for a quiet pint after work, this probably isn't it. Expect a lively, music-focused atmosphere, judging by their Facebook page which they seem to use as their main website: facebook.com/number1livemusicvenueinSouthport/.

It's not a posh cocktail place, more of a proper bar, if I'm honest. Drinks are reasonably priced, not dirt cheap, but not bank-breaking either. Give them a ring on 07905 707469 if you're trying to confirm what kind of music is on, or if they do food.

Just a heads-up, they're only open late, so plan your visit accordingly. And if you're driving, check the parking situation around there beforehand – it can get a bit tight.
