About Ainsdale Pine Woods
Ainsdale Pine Woods is a decent shout if you're looking for somewhere to stretch your legs without spending a fortune. Itβs open 24/7 so you can literally go anytime, and the Google reviews are pretty solid β 4.7 stars from almost 200 reviews, so it's not just me saying it's alright. It's technically a beach and a park, so you get the best of both worlds, really.
Being right in Southport town centre (that's Merseyside, by the way, not Lancashire!), it's easy to get to, which is a bonus. I wouldn't say it's the most amazing place ever, but for a free day out with the kids, or just a quick dog walk, you canβt really complain. It's mostly flat, so it's good if you're not up for a massive hike.
It's basically a big sandy area backed by pine trees, so it's a bit different from your typical beach. Can get a bit windy, mind you, being on the coast. Don't expect golden sands and crystal-clear water β it's Southport, after all! But it's got its own rugged appeal, and the kids always seem to enjoy building sandcastles.
Just a heads-up: parking can be a bit tricky on weekends if the weather's decent. Get there early or be prepared to circle a bit.
