About Rosemary Wood Fisheries
Right, so Rosemary Wood Fisheries isn't *technically* in Southport, it's just a bit further out towards Ormskirk. But loads of us in Southport use it, so I'm including it. It's got a decent 4.4 star rating from 189 Google reviews, so people seem to like it. It's basically a big fishing lake with some nice walks around it.
If you're after a free day out with the kids, this is a pretty good shout. There's plenty of space for them to run around, and you can have a crack at fishing if you're into that sort of thing. Don't expect golden sands and donkey rides, it's more of a "throw on your wellies and get some fresh air" kind of place. It's family-friendly, but there is a cafe, which is always handy when you've got kids.
The website is rwf.areafish.com if you want to check it out but it's pretty basic. I think it's open pretty much all day every day, but best to check their Facebook page if you're making a special trip.
Word of warning: it can get pretty muddy, especially after it's been raining. So definitely wear appropriate footwear.
