The Southport Flower Show runs 20–23 August 2026. It's one of England's most prestigious horticultural shows β€” been going since 1924. If you've never been, the scale of it surprises people. This is not a church fΓͺte. It's a full four-day event at Victoria Park with marquees, gardens, celebrity appearances, and enough to fill a long day.

How to Get There and What to Do First

Victoria Park main entrance is your starting point. Buy tickets in advance online β€” early bird from Β£23, gate prices higher. If you're driving, the official parking is at local car parks signposted to the event; the Flower Show parking fills early on Saturday. Arriving before 10am means manageable car parks and the pick of the show before the crowds build.

The Show Gardens

Walk the show gardens first, while your legs are fresh. These are the flagship exhibits β€” designers and organisations create full gardens in the marquee and outside areas. Quality varies year to year but there's always something worth stopping at properly. The judges' medals are displayed with each exhibit. This is the part you should take your time with.

The Floral Marquee

The main floral marquee is the heart of the show β€” competitive classes of cut flowers, pot plants, specialist exhibits from growers. It can get very warm inside on a hot August afternoon. Visit in the morning if you can. The competitive classes are judged by midday and the ribbons are displayed from then.

New for 2026 β€” The Lakeside Reset

The 2026 show has a new centrepiece: The Lakeside Reset, a redesigned water feature area creating a tranquil space amid what can otherwise be a busy show. Worth finding and actually stopping for a few minutes.

Which Day to Go

Weekdays (Thursday and Friday) are noticeably quieter. If you can go on a weekday, do. Saturday is the busiest day β€” a full crowd, Anton Du Beke is scheduled, parking is at maximum. Sunday is the last day, slightly quieter than Saturday, and some exhibitors begin to pack down by late afternoon. Thursday opening day is when everything is freshest and the competitive classes are at full display.

πŸ’‘The Southport Air Show is on 29–30 August β€” one week after the Flower Show finishes. Worth planning both into a longer Southport August trip.
