Lakeside Cafe

If you're down by the Marine Lake and fancy a coffee, Lakeside Cafe is a solid shout. It's got a 4.2 rating from over 670 Google reviews, so most people seem happy enough. It's not the cheapest – I'd say it's a mid-range price, but you're paying for the location, right on the front.

They do the usual cafe stuff: cakes, sandwiches, that kind of thing. I wouldn't say it's gourmet, but it's decent enough for a quick stop-off after a walk around the lake. They do proper coffee, which is a plus in my book. And if the weather's rubbish (which, let's face it, it often is in Southport), it's a good place to hide for a bit. Plus, dogs are welcome!

One thing to note: it can get pretty busy in peak season, so you might have to wait for a table.
