The Tearoom at Scarisbrick Marina

If you're after a cuppa and a slice after a walk, The Tearoom at Scarisbrick Marina is a solid shout. It's not bang in Southport, being just past Churchtown towards Ormskirk, but it's worth the short drive, especially if you're already out that way. They do a decent afternoon tea, but honestly, I usually just grab a coffee and cake. They do a proper job with the coffee, none of that instant rubbish.

The Marina itself is nice for a wander, so it's good for a bit of a longer visit, especially on a drizzly day when you don't fancy the beach. It's got a good rating online – 4.7 stars from over 280 reviews on Google – which is fair enough. It’s not the cheapest place, mind, but you get what you pay for.

They're open seven days a week, closing at 4pm every day. Weekends they open a bit earlier at 9am, but weekdays are 10am starts. Give them a ring on 01704 841924 if you're after afternoon tea as you might need to book.
