The Clifton Villa Hotel

Right, if you're after a decent B&B in Southport itself, I reckon The Clifton Villa Hotel is worth a look. It's got a cracking Google rating – 4.9 out of 5 from 51 reviews, which is always a good sign, isn't it? It's a Victorian house, so it's got that old-school Southport vibe, but the rooms are supposed to be pretty modern and they've got that all-important free WiFi. Plus, a cooked breakfast to set you up for the day.

It's slap-bang in the town centre, so dead easy for popping to Lord Street or nipping down to the sea front. If you're coming for the Open at Birkdale in 2026 (12th-19th July), it's a decent shout, being close to the train station. Might suit couples or smaller families, given it's a B&B rather than a massive hotel.
