The Gables Hotel is a good shout if you're after somewhere central and you're not after a massive chain. It's right in the town centre, so dead easy for getting to the shops, Lord Street, and the trains. Plus, they're getting a perfect 5.0 on Google from one review – hard to argue with that, eh?! I reckon it's a good option for couples or maybe a small family, but if you're bringing the whole clan, you might want to check the room sizes first. It's also worth keeping them in mind if you're coming to Southport for a round of golf. It's handy for a few courses, and definitely one to look at if you're planning on heading to The Open at Birkdale in 2026.

It's not the cheapest place in town, but you're paying for the location, to be fair. It's a smaller, independent place, so you'll probably get a more personal touch than some of the bigger hotels.

Parking in the town centre can be a pain, so be sure to ask them about parking when you book.
