Right, Asmall House Livery Stables. Don't let the name fool you; it's not just horses! It's a decent restaurant just outside Southport in Ormskirk. I know, I know, Ormskirk isn't Southport, but it's close enough and worth the short drive. It's got a 4.5 rating on Google from 12 reviews, which is a good sign people are generally happy.
They do a solid menu of pub classics, from what I hear. Think hearty meals, good portions, that sort of thing. From the photos I've seen, it looks like a cosy, relaxed atmosphere. Definitely suitable for families, and couples would be fine too. It's not super fancy, but it's a good, honest meal.
I reckon you'll want to book ahead if you're planning on going on a Saturday or Sunday, especially for a larger group. Give them a ring on 01695 570025 to be sure.
