Harpers Fish & Chips

Fancy some proper fish and chips in Southport town centre? Harpers is a decent shout. They've got a 4.2 rating on Google from 88 reviews, so most people seem happy enough. It's not fancy, just a good, solid chippy. Good for families, or just a quick bite for couples after a walk on the pier.

They do all the usual stuff - haddock, cod, sausages, pies, the works. It's not a massive place, but they usually have a few tables if you want to eat in. I'd say they are more of a takeaway though. I always grab a portion of chips and sit on a bench by the memorial.

Opening hours are a bit odd - they close between 2pm and 4pm most weekdays, and they're shut on Wednesdays and Sundays. Phone them on 01704 512465 if you want to check anything – or see if they’re rammed – but they don’t take bookings.

Worth knowing: it can get pretty busy on a Friday and Saturday evening, especially in the summer. You might have to queue outside for a bit.
