If you're after a decent curry out near Churchtown, Nellie's on the main road in Ormskirk is a solid bet. It’s been there for years and years, and it’s always busy, which tells you something. They do all the usual Indian dishes, and I've never had a bad meal there. 4.6 stars from nearly 500 Google reviews is pretty good going, so it's not just me who thinks so.

It's a good place for couples or families; it's not too loud or too quiet. The prices are about what you'd expect – maybe a little on the higher side, but the portions are a good size. I usually end up taking some home for lunch the next day. It's got a pretty standard restaurant atmosphere, nothing fancy. It’s open every night, but opening times vary a bit - earlier on weekends and Sundays.
