Ocean Plaza: good shout if the weather's turned proper bad. It's all indoors, right in the town centre, so dead easy to get to. You've got your usual chain restaurants - Nando's, Frankie & Benny's, that sort of thing - plus a Vue cinema, bowling, and Silcock's Funland which the kids will probably drag you into.

It's definitely geared towards families, especially with the little'uns. Don't expect anything too fancy, mind. It's more about keeping them entertained for a couple of hours. The mini golf is alright, if a bit basic. Opening hours are a solid 8am to 10pm every day, so you can pretty much rock up whenever.

I'd say it's a reliable option, and the 4-star rating with over a thousand reviews seems about right. It's not the highlight of Southport, but it serves a purpose.
