Royal Clifton Hotel Southport

Alright, so the Royal Clifton Hotel... it's one of those big seafront hotels you can't miss, right on the Promenade. It gets a 3.7 out of 5 on Google from over 1,600 reviews, so it's not the Ritz, but you get what you pay for. It's got a pool, sauna, and spa, which is decent if the weather's not playing ball—and let's be honest, that's most of the time in Southport! It's part of the Britannia group, so manage your expectations a bit. It's popular with families I reckon, because of the pool and being right on the front. If you're coming for the Open at Birkdale in 2026 (12th-19th July), it's a handy location, being in the town centre. You could walk to the train station easily enough to get to Birkdale.

The rooms are... functional. Don't expect luxury, like. But it's clean enough. You're paying for the location, really. Check out their website (britanniahotels.com) for deals, they usually have something on.

Parking can be a pain around there, especially in summer. Give yourself plenty of time to find a spot, or use one of the paid car parks nearby.
