The Athenaeum

The Athenaeum is right on Lord Street, so it's dead easy to find. It's got a solid 4.5 stars from over a thousand Google reviews, which says something. It's a brasserie and bar, so expect a bit of that smart-casual vibe. I'd say it's probably better for couples or a lunch with mates than a massive family do, just judging from the feel of the place.

It's not the cheapest spot, so be prepared to spend a bit more than your average pub lunch – it's in the £££ range. The food is decent though, and it's a good spot if you want something a bit more upmarket.

Word of warning: they're only open Tuesday to Friday, and only between 12pm and 4pm. Seems like a lunch spot and not a dinner place. They're closed Mondays, Saturdays and Sundays. Give them a ring on (312) 820-6250 if you're unsure or want to check specific menu items.

If you're planning on popping in on a Friday lunchtime, especially around one o'clock, you might want to book ahead just to be safe. It can get pretty busy with shoppers and office workers.
