Right, so WACA Rec Centre on the Esplanade – if you've got kids bouncing off the walls, this is your place. It's got a decent 4.4 stars from 21 Google reviews, so it's not just me saying it's alright. Open year-round, so it's a good shout whether it's pouring down or sunny. It's all indoors, which is a lifesaver when the Southport weather does its thing. Think soft play, climbing frames, that kind of stuff. It’s right in the town centre, so dead easy to get to. If you're local you'll know it, but if you're visiting Southport it's hard to miss being right on the main drag.

It's definitely geared towards families, especially with younger kids, say under 10s. Don't expect massive thrills, it's more about letting them burn off some energy in a safe space. There’s a cafe too, which does the usual burgers and chips, decent enough for a quick bite.

Worth knowing: parking in that area can be a pain, especially in summer, so give yourself plenty of time to find a spot.
