Diglake Farm Shop

If you're after proper local produce, Diglake Farm Shop on the edge of Ormskirk is well worth the short drive from Southport. It's got a 4.8-star rating on Google from over 200 reviews, which is a pretty good sign. You'll find everything from fresh fruit and veg (often grown right there) to locally sourced meats and cheeses. They do a cracking Sunday roast selection too, if you're that way inclined.

It's not the cheapest place in the world – you're paying for quality and supporting local farmers, so expect to spend a bit more than you would at Tesco. But for a special occasion, or just to treat yourself to some proper grub, it's hard to beat. Plus, the staff are always friendly and happy to offer advice on what's good that day.

The farm shop itself is a decent size, with a good selection of pantry staples and homemade goodies. They also have a little café if you fancy a cuppa and a slice of cake.
