Crete Greek Taverna

If you're after a decent Greek, Crete Greek Taverna on Lord Street is worth a shout. It's got a solid 4.7 stars from nearly 400 Google reviews, so they must be doing something right. It's not your old-school, plate-smashing Greek place though – it's a bit more modern, bright decor, and they've got a decked terrace which is nice when the Southport weather plays ball.

They focus on Cretan dishes as well as your usual Greek stuff. The menu is priced in the "££" range, so not the cheapest but not bank-breaking either. I reckon it's a good spot for couples or families, that kind of vibe.
