The 1881 Lounge

Right, so The 1881 Lounge… it's at Southport Football Club, right in the town centre, so easy enough to get to. It’s basically the club’s bar, and it's open to the public, not just on match days. You'll find it on Haig Avenue (that's the postcode on their website anyway), and they're open pretty late if you're after a bit of nightlife.

Now, I’m not gonna lie, the Google reviews aren’t amazing – 2.8 out of 5, based on four reviews. But look, it's a sports bar, yeah? So you know what you're getting. Expect it to be lively when there's a game on, and probably a bit quieter other times. They have live music sometimes, which is a plus. Definitely a local's kind of place, not a fancy cocktail bar or anything.

The website is southportfc.net if you want to check it out, though it's mostly about the footy. I haven't been in for a while myself, but it’s a decent spot if you're already heading to a game, or just fancy a pint somewhere unpretentious.

Worth checking their Facebook page to see if they have any live music on, as that can get busy.
