Alright, if you're after a proper, no-frills pub in Southport town centre, give The Blue Anchor a look. It's got a 4.2 rating on Google from nearly 150 reviews, so people seem to rate it, and it's definitely on the cheaper side. It’s not trying to be anything it isn’t – just a good, solid local boozer.

Don't expect fancy cocktails or anything, it's more a place for a pint and a chat. They do show some sport, but it's not a full-on sports bar, more of a background thing. The atmosphere is usually pretty relaxed. Plus, good news for dog owners, they're welcome in here, which is always a bonus.
