North Meols Garden

Alright, so you're looking for a free day out that's easy to get to? Check out North Meols Park. It's right in the centre of Southport, so dead easy to find, and costs nothing to get in. I've taken the kids there a few times when we just needed to get out of the house.

Now, it's not Formby Pinewoods, mind. Don't go expecting some massive nature reserve. But, for a park in the middle of town, it's pretty decent. Google reviews give it a 4.9 out of 5, though only from 8 reviews, so don't take that as gospel. It's open 24/7, so you can technically go anytime, though I wouldn't recommend wandering around there at night.

It's a good spot for a quick walk, letting the kids run around, or just chilling on a bench for a bit. There are usually a few locals walking their dogs, so the kids enjoy seeing them.

Just a heads up - there aren't any toilets actually *in* the park itself. You'll need to pop into town if anyone needs the loo.
