Car Park

Alright, so you're heading to Birkdale Village, are you? Nice one. If you're driving, you'll want to know about the free car park on Sandon Road (number 87 to be precise). It's dead handy because, well, it's free. And let's face it, saving a few quid on parking means more for a pint at the Birkers or a bag of chips from that place near the train station.

Now, being free, it does get pretty busy, especially on Saturdays and sunny afternoons when everyone and their dog is heading to the shops or grabbing lunch. So, either get there earlyish – before 11am if you can – or be prepared to circle a bit. It’s right in the heart of Birkdale Village though, so once you’re parked, you’re only a few minutes' walk to all the shops and cafes.

It’s a decent-sized car park, not massive, but bigger than you think. I’ve never *not* found a space, but I’ve definitely had to be patient a few times. It's just off the main road, so keep your eyes peeled as you approach; you don't want to sail straight past it.

Just remember it's free, so don't expect valet service or anything! And be considerate of other drivers when you're parking. Oh, and maybe have a backup plan in mind, just in case it's absolutely rammed. There's street parking in the area, but it's usually limited.
