Mecca Bingo Car Park

Right, so you're heading into town and need somewhere to park the motor? Mecca Bingo Car Park is bang in the centre, a stone's throw from Lord Street and all the shops. It's pay-and-display, so don't be thinking you can sneak a freebie – those parking wardens are like hawks round here! Gets pretty busy on Saturdays, especially in the run-up to Christmas, so get there early if you want a space.

It's a decent sized car park, mind, and I've rarely had to circle around for too long. Just be aware that because it is a town centre car park, the charges can be a bit steep compared to out-of-town parking. Still, you're paying for convenience, and it beats driving around for ages searching for a free spot. Plus, you're right next to the bingo if you fancy a dab after you've done the shopping.

It's open seven days a week, so that's handy. I don't have the exact opening hours, but it's generally open from early morning until late evening. There are usually plenty of spaces, but like I said, weekends get busy.

One tip: always double-check the signs for the current parking charges before you leave your car. They do change them from time to time, and you don't want to get caught out with a ticket.
