Chestnut House

Right, so Chestnut House. It's a hotel bang in the middle of Southport, postcode PR8, so you're not far from anything. I've had a few mates stay there when their rellies are over, and they've all said it's decent. I had a quick check, and they've got a 4.5-star rating from over 300 reviews, so it's not just my mates being polite. They're open 24/7, which is handy if you're arriving late after a long drive.

It seems to suit couples and families alike. I had a nosey at their website, and the rooms look smart. If you are coming for the Open at Birkdale in 2026 (12th to 19th July), this would be a good shout as it's a short taxi or train ride away. Give them a ring on 01704 538888 to see what their rates are like closer to the time because they will probably hike them up.

It's on a main road, so it can be a bit noisy if you're a light sleeper, so pack some earplugs if that's you. Parking can be a pain in that area too, so check with the hotel about what their parking situation is.
