The Chef&Food South Indian Takeaway

If you're after a decent South Indian takeaway in town, The Chef&Food is a solid shout. It's got a 4.5 rating from over a hundred Google reviews, so it's not just me saying that. They're open evenings most days except Tuesday, 5 'til 10, so perfect for a late tea.

It's not a massive place, more geared towards picking up your order than hanging about, but you can always give them a ring on 01704 568637 if you want to check on waiting times or make an order ahead. The website's got the full menu, but I usually just stick to the classics. Suits both couples after a quick bite and families who don't want to cook.

They do all the usual South Indian bits – dosas, uttapam, that sort of thing – plus a few more familiar curry dishes if you're not feeling adventurous. It's a proper local spot, nothing fancy, but the food's always been spot on when I've been. Good value too, which is always a bonus these days.

Worth remembering they get pretty busy on Friday and Saturday nights, so either get your order in early or be prepared to wait a bit. Plenty of parking on the main road, but it can get tight.
