Zetland Hotel

If you're after a decent pint in town, The Zetland's a solid bet. It's located right in the centre of Southport, so dead easy to get to. They've got a good rating online, 4.5 stars from over 200 reviews. I wouldn't call it a proper traditional pub, it’s more of a modern bar that does food as well.

The atmosphere is usually pretty lively, especially on weekends. Gets quite busy with a younger crowd, but not rowdy. They do show sports on the TVs, but it’s not a full-on sports bar if you know what I mean. It's open from 12pm until late every day, so there's no excuse not to pop in.

Price-wise, expect to pay around what you would in any town-centre bar these days – it's marked as ££ so not the cheapest, but not extortionate either. I've seen dogs in there before, so that's a plus if you're out walking the pooch.
