Heritage Butchers Birkdale

If you're after proper meat in Birkdale Village, Heritage Butchers is the place. Forget the supermarket stuff, this is the real deal. They've got a good reputation locally – 4.6 stars from 28 Google reviews ain't bad, is it? It's a proper old-school butcher's, and they know their stuff.

They do all the usual cuts, but I reckon their sausages are something special. They also do a nice line in locally sourced pies and cheeses, so it's worth a look if you're putting together a picnic or something. It's a bit pricier than your average supermarket, mind, but you get what you pay for.

The staff are always friendly and helpful, even when it's busy. Opening hours are decent too – 9 'til 5 Tuesday to Friday, and 9 'til 4 on Saturday, but note they are closed Sundays and Mondays. Give them a ring on 01704 337131 if you need something specific.

One tip: Birkdale Village can get rammed on a Saturday, so parking can be a pain. Try the side streets if the main car park is full.
