Need a last-minute Halloween outfit or fancy dress for a party? The Costume Store on Eastbank Street is your best bet in town. It's not massive, but they've got a decent selection – more than you'd find in a supermarket, anyway. Think pirates, superheroes, flapper dresses, that sort of thing. They also do wigs, face paint, and all the accessories you might need. I’ve used them myself a couple of times when I’ve been caught short.

It’s a proper little independent shop, and the staff are always sound. They’ll help you find what you're looking for, even if you're not quite sure yourself. Prices are reasonable, though obviously, it’s going to be pricier than buying something online from China. But hey, you're supporting a local business, and you get to try things on!

I’d say it’s worth popping in if you’re planning a themed night out. They're open most days, but I'd give them a ring on 07926 442453 just to double-check their hours, especially if you're heading in on a Sunday or late in the day.
