Ocean Plaza Car Park is dead handy if you're heading to the cinema, bowling, or any of the restaurants down at the Ocean Plaza. It's right on Marine Drive, so you can't miss it. The best bit? It's free, which is a lifesaver in Southport these days.

It can get pretty rammed, especially on weekends or when there's a popular film on. Give yourself a bit of extra time to circle around and find a space, especially if you're with the kids. I've seen a few near misses with people rushing about.

It's open 24/7, which is useful if you're planning a late night. Obviously, it's just a car park, so don't expect any frills. But for a free spot right in the thick of things in Southport (Merseyside), you can't complain.

Just remember where you parked! It's a big car park, and all the levels look the same after a couple of hours. Maybe take a quick photo of the nearest sign so you don't end up wandering around like I did last time I went to see a film.
