Right, so Central 12 Retail Park Car Park. It's bang in the middle of town, which is handy, and the big plus is it's free. Yep, free parking in Southport town centre. You can't argue with that, can you? It’s right next to the retail park, obviously, so you're steps away from shops like Next and River Island. Five minutes and you're on Lord Street.

It's open 24/7, which is good to know if you're planning a late one. The only thing is, because it's free, it can get pretty rammed, especially on weekends and during school holidays. You might have to circle a bit to find a space, so factor that in.

Don't get me wrong, it's just a car park, but a free car park in that location is a winner. Beats paying through the nose at some of the others.

Just a heads-up: keep an eye on the signs about maximum stay times. They do patrol it, so you don't want to get caught out with a ticket.
