Shopping in Southport
Shops, boutiques and markets
Lord Street is the main shopping strip, a long Victorian boulevard with covered arcades, a mix of independents and some chains. It's one of the nicest high streets in the north west, worth a stroll even if you're not buying anything.
The Wayfarers Arcade is the best of the covered arcades, independent shops, antiques, a bit eclectic. Worth a browse on a rainy afternoon. The Market is useful for fresh food and local produce.
Cambridge Walks and the side streets off Lord Street are where you'll find most of the boutiques and independents. Hirshmans on Chapel Street has been going for years and is reliable for pharmacy and travel essentials.
